Clubs

Student Clubs

We always look for new club ideas for our ASAA students to get the most out of their experience while they are here. Student clubs offer limitless opportunities for student leadership and participation beyond the classroom and academic programs. Parent Volunteers are always welcome.

 

Running Club

Offered to Grades 3 & 4 

Begins in Sept and runs during lunch recesses on specific days.

Students wrap up the season with a cross-country meet with the Leduc and District Athletic Association in Wetaskiwin at the end of September. 

All students interested in running and physical activity are welcome to join!

Worship Choir

Offered to Grades 3 & 4 

Begins in September and runs year-long. Practices are during lunch recess when needed.

Students learn songs and hymns for our school liturgy services and perform as a choir at each Mass.

All students who are interested in music and singing are welcome to join!

Games Club

Offered to Grades 1 & 2 only

Begins in January and runs during lunch recesses on a rotating schedule.

Students will learn new board games, develop strategies and critical thinking skills and have fun with their peers!

All students interested in learning something new and like to play board games are welcome to join.

Volleyball Club

Offered to Grades 3 & 4

Six-week session begins in the spring after school one day a week.

Students will learn basic volleyball skills of serving, passing, hitting, and gameplay to help them with future school teams.

All students interested in learning something new and like physical activity are welcome to join.

Basketball Club

Offered to Grades 3 & 4

Six-week session begins in the spring after school one day a week.

Students will learn fundamental basketball skills of dribbling, passing, shooting, and gameplay to help them with future school teams.

All students interested in learning something new and like physical activity are welcome to join.

Recorder Karate

Offered to Grades 3 and 4 

Begins in Spring and runs during specified lunch recesses.

Students supplement their in-class skills with a recess recorder club. They earn belts by performing a different song with each belt. Students work toward the coveted black belt. This is a popular club; each year, students rush to the music room each recess.

 All students interested in music and playing the recorder are welcome to join.


Ukulele Club 

Offered to Grade 4 students

Runs in February and March during specified lunch recesses. 

Students who want to advance their skills can continue learning and working on their Ukulele skills after completing the in-class unit. Students pick songs they want to learn and come at lunch recess for extra instruction and fun group sing-alongs. 

All students interested in music and playing a new instrument are welcome to join.
